Vikasa
is a service society registered under the Societies Act of 1860 and also under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in 1987 for obtaining funds from foreign countries (FCRA No.010350038). Vikasa started with a majority of its work with tribal families in Madugula Mandal of Visakhapatnam District. Visakhapatnam is one of twenty three districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh which is located in the southeast portion of the Indian sub-continent. Since 1987, Vikasa has worked in areas of wasteland development, education and empowerment of women in different parts of Visakhapatnam District. A little under two decades since it's inception, Vikasa is still operating in Visakhapatnam with Chodavaram as its headquarters. Presently, its activities are spread in four Mandals.

Vision
To aid in the sustainable socio-economic and environmental development of the most marginalised and disadvantaged sections of the society.

Objectives
The objectives of Vikasa are:

  • To create awareness on formation of local institutions and management of human and natural resources.
  • To create, strengthen, and encourage village level youth groups to come forward and participate actively in the efforts of Vikasa by addressing their livelihood needs and make the groups viable.
  • To build necessary linkages between the groups and other government agencies for effective implementation of all development programmes in target villages to achieve sustainable development.
  • Empowerment the poor, vulnerable communities in the spheres of socio-economic transformation, especially among rural women.
